Intoduction : We are interested in all aspects of traditional karate. Our main training is based upon the traditional Japanese style of Wado-Ryu, which was developed in Japan during the early 1920’s. It’s roots lie in the much older Okinawan and Chinese systems such as kung fu. We now belong to the Washinkai system which is a wado based system developed by Chris Thompson(8th dan), who provides us with guidance & support. More information about Chris & the Washinkai system can be found at www.btka.org.uk . Although our main qualifications lie within Wado-Ryu, we also look at other styles of traditional karate such as Goju-Ryu, Shotokan & Shitoryu. We still practice the traditional etiquette & syllabus of Japanese karate but use modern European teaching methods. We take students from 8 years upwards and have both male and female instructors. Visitors from all disciplines are welcome to join our training sessions as long as they come with “Good heart & open mind” Where are we? Our main training sessions take place in 1.
